Chinese doctors most often recommend Mulberry leaf tea as a diabetes tea. However, Dr. Oz revealed on his show that white mulberry leaf tea is also great for fighting cholesterol, boosting the immune system and weight loss. Traditional Chinese Medicine also recommends White Mulberry leaf tea for anemia, dry constipation, prematurely graying hair and baldness. It is also commonly consumed as a natural way to counter the symptoms of the common cold or flu including, sore throat, headache and cough.
Research suggests Mulberry leaf tea may be helpful in managing blood sugar and helping weight loss because mulberry leaves contain a substance called 1-deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) that inhibits some of the stomach enzymes responsible for processing fats and sugars. This results in fewer fats and sugars being absorbed into the blood stream.
